My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Diva Dumpling! I was a scared momma cat that came into rescue and was a but spicy! Thats why I was a Diva. Now I am the sweetest kitty ever. My foster mom now calls me Dumpling since that spiciness had gone away.

My life was not an easy one. In May a nice lady found me wandering her neighborhood. Soon she noticed I was pregnant, like really pregnant. Within a week I gave birth to 5 healthy kittens in her yard. She was frantic. There are a lot of predators at her home and was scared that my babies would not survive. Luckily she knew someone in rescue that could help. She drove over right away to see what was going on. I was so scared. I kept running away. Luckily the lady in rescue was prepared. She took my babies and put them in a carrier. She then put the babies behind a cage. When I came looking for them I went in the cage and she closed the door. Boy, was that scary. I calmed down and away I went to her home. She set me up in a cool bathroom where I could decompress. While I settled down she assessed my babies. She discovered they were roughly 7 days old. Their little eyes were not even open yet.

I hate to say it but I was not a good momma. I did not know how to care for my babies. I didn't clean them. Luckily my foster mom knew just what to do. This wasn't her first litter taking care of. As time went on I let her touch me. Just a little at a time. I was scared, I didnt know what was going on. She was very patient with me. She didnt know what happened to me in the past. Was I abandoned, or did I get away from someone. All she knew was I was young and a momma.

Months went by and I started to open up. Most of my babies have been adopted and now I am looking for a home of my own. I am very sweet and love to play. I dont know about other cats, I haven't been around them. I also dont know about dogs. My foster mom does not have dogs. As far as kids go, they have to be older, like teenagers. I am still very shy. I will come around with a very calm and quiet home. I could be an only cat in the home. I would like to be with a younger family since I am only a year and have quite a lot of energy. More about this rescue

St. Louis Pet Rescue is a non-profit rescue group focusing on saving pets from local animal control facilities and other neglect situations.

We do not have a facility. All of the pets we rescue are in loving foster homes. Foster homes provide love, care training, and, if needed, rehabilitation to the pets. This also allows the pet to be more adjusted when they enter their forever home since they are used to a home environment (versus a kennel at the pound).
