My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Margo is a sweet, outgoing 1-2 year old terrier mix that weighs 31 lbs. She is full grown and should not get any larger. Margo is loving, curious, and the kind of dog who effortlessly wins over every person she meets. She has the sweetest way of greeting new friends by doing little tippy taps excitedly with her feet, like she’s doing a happy dance, and then she flops onto her back with a look that clearly says, “Belly rubs, please!” She lives for affection, loves being doted on, and thrives when she’s meeting new people in social situations. Whether she’s soaking up love from her people or charming strangers she meets along the way, Margo spreads joy everywhere she goes. This adorable girl is the perfect mix of relaxed and adventurous. She’ll happily curl up beside you for a cozy movie marathon, stretch out for a lazy afternoon nap, or lounge peacefully while you work or unwind. But once you grab the leash or open the door, her face lights up and she is ready for a stroll through the neighborhood, outdoor brunch date with your friends, or an afternoon exploring new trails and sniffing all the smells she can find. Wherever you go, Margo just wants to be right there with you, smiling her big, happy smile. She’s a companion through and through. She is affectionate, people-oriented, and always eager to be part of whatever her humans are doing. With her social, loving personality and her go-with-the-flow nature, Margo would be the perfect pup for someone who wants a best friend to share life, love, and everyday joy with. She’s always ready for the next adventure, even if that adventure is simply cuddling on the couch with her favorite person.

Margo is low to medium energy, so she is pretty mellow with short bursts of energy that are quickly burned with playtime in the backyard. She loves to go on casual neighborhood walks and explore nature trails on longer hikes with her humans. She is the best passenger princess that will always be happy to join you on car rides and keep you company on short drives around town or long road trips. She also enjoys playing with stuffed animals, squeaky toys, and tennis balls. Her favorite games are fetch and tug-o-war, and she really loves to engage in other fun exercise activities with her humans. If she can't find a human to play with, she will find a doggy friend to play with instead. After she has burned some of her energy, she shows off her cuddly, easygoing side that makes her the perfect snuggle buddy after playtime. She is the perfect work from home companion and would love keep you company if you work remotely. She’s the ideal balance of playful and laid-back. She is always happy to go on outdoor adventures, but just as content curling up on the couch for a cozy afternoon nap. Her future home needs to have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys. She’d really love having a monthly BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month. Puzzle games and chew bones will also be great for keeping her busy indoors, especially as she is teething.

Margo is dog, cat, and kid friendly. She loves other furry friends and would love to have another playful dog in her forever home. She would be perfectly fine being the only dog in the home, but she would benefit from having frequent play dates with other dogs. She enjoys playing with dogs her size and smaller the most, but does fine with larger dogs that are respectful of her personal space and don't jump on her when she first meets them. She would do best in a home with another dog that is a good balance of laid back and playful. She has been introduced to cats and would be able to live with a cat in her forever home after slow introductions. She would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before and won't be mean to her by swatting her in the face for just sniffing them to be friendly. Margo is currently in a foster home with both younger and older kids, and she loves them all! She loves to cuddle and play with all of them, and is the perfect pup for a family with kids of all ages because she loves affection, playtime, and cuddle time.

Margo is kennel trained, potty trained, and leash trained. She walks well on a leash, and loves going on fun outings with her humans. She is petite and gentle, so she's easy to walk on a leash and only pulls when she gets really excited to meet a new person that is talking to her as they're walking closer in her direction. She is easily redirected to calm down by asking her to sit and giving her a treat. She sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss and also hangs out in her kennel when her foster mom has to go into the office to work some days too. She doesn't mind her kennel at all, and just appreciates when she gets a yummy treat to snack on when she goes inside. She would love to snuggle up in bed with her humans every night so she can get in as many cuddles as possible though. She is fully potty trained and will notify you that she needs to go outside by standing by the back door.

Margo's ideal home would be a house with a fenced in backyard to run around and play in. She would do well in an apartment, condo or townhouse and would prefer if her human either works from home or can take her into a dog-friendly office so she can enjoy being around people on a daily basis. She would also love to go to doggy day care and have playdates a few times a week if there are no other dogs in the home so that she can have some fun playing with other doggy friends. No public dog parks for this little girl because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. She would love to have a family that has other dogs and kids, and would coexist well if there's a kitty in the home. She would be perfectly fine being the center of attention in her forever home, too. With her goofy charm, affectionate personality, and heart full of love, she is sure to fill your home with laughter, warmth, and endless cuddles.

Margo is in a foster home in Corpus Christi, Texas. She can be adopted and transported to the following cities/states: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/transport-locations

TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back.

Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets.

The cost to adopt is $530 - $550, depending on where she is transported to. The cost to adopt includes a $300 adoption fee and a $230 - $250 transport fee (it will be $250 for transport to the PNW and $230 for other states not in the PNW). The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, spay procedure, microchip, flea/heartworm prevention, health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus any necessary vet care while in the rescue's care.

More about this rescue

Love And Puppy Paws Dog Rescue (LAPP Dog Rescue) is a 100% foster-based, 100% volunteer ran rescue that was formed to help alleviate the stress of city and county animal control facilities around South and Central Texas. We accept dogs into our rescue that are in overpopulated animal control facilities and are at risk of euthanasia due to space restraints, behavioral issues, and/or medical issues. Our main focus is to assist with dogs in rural animal control facilities that do not have resources that larger animal control facilities have to network dogs in their facility, provide vet care, or have a larger population of potential adopters. Any dogs brought into LAPP Dog Rescue’s care will be placed in foster homes, receive veterinary care, receive training for behavioral issues if needed, and gain socialization skills before they are adopted into their forever homes.
