Samuel is a sweet, gentle 11 month old bully mix that weighs 55 lbs. He is estimated to be around 60 lbs once he is full grown. Samuel is best described as loving, affectionate, silly, and playfully sweet. He’s a calm, gentle boy who loves nothing more than curling up next to his human for snuggles. He approaches new experiences with soft curiosity, and each day you can see his confidence bloom as he explores more of the world around him. He’s an adaptable pup who has the potential to thrive in many different types of environments. Whether you prefer a laid-back lifestyle or enjoy adventurous outings, he’s the kind of dog who’s simply happy to be by your side. Samuel is also a true social butterfly and he makes friends instantly, both with people and other dogs. His easygoing nature shines whenever he gets to interact with new friends. He is always such a gentleman as he introduces himself and waits patiently for the new person to give him a pet on the head, then he will turn himself around so you can pet him all over.. If he could spend all day, every day near his human, he’d be the happiest pup in the world. He loves watching his foster mom as she moves around the house, quietly keeping tabs on her with those curious eyes. He’s not a stage-five clinger by any means, but you can always find him lounging nearby, carefully positioning himself where he can see you. His foster mom jokes that during chores, she’ll often notice Samuel’s nose and eyes peeking over the couch, just supervising. But the second she sits down, Samuel is right there. He hops up beside her, curls in close, and settles in for the coziest nap. He gives the warmest, melt-right-into-you cuddles and is such a lover boy. Samuel's ideal family will include him in their daily lives and love him as much as he’ll love them. Whether it’s going on walks, exploring new places, or enjoying lazy days at home, he’ll be your most loyal sidekick every step of the way. With his goofy charm, affectionate personality, and heart full of love, Samuel is sure to fill your home with laughter, warmth, and endless cuddles.
Samuel is low to medium energy, so he is a perfect mix of laid back and active. He has short spurts of energy that are easily burned with short walks, playtime in the backyard with his toys. Once he gets his daily exercise in, he is pretty laid back and low energy. He loves to sprawl out on the couch for a snooze after playtime and does the cutest little snores when he's really comfortable. Her favorite activities include playing some fun mental stimulation games that involve yummy treats, exploring the outdoors, and tossing around his toys that he chases after. He also loves to play with other dogs and his face lights up when he meets a new furry friend. While he enjoys playing with his doggy friends, he’s also perfectly content to entertain himself with his favorite toys and chew bones. He is very food motivated and loves to engage in training activities, and would benefit from having a human that can continue working on building his confidence with the help of some yummy treats. He would love a family that enjoys the outdoors and would love to go hiking on outdoor adventures, exploring nature trails, and spending time with his humans. His ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and he’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month.
Samuel is dog and kid friendly, but has not been introduced to cats yet. He loves other furry friends and would love to have another playful dog in his forever home. He would be perfectly fine being the only dog in the home, but he would benefit from having frequent play dates with other dogs. He already knows proper doggy communication skills and play etiquette, and is a gentleman when he is playing with the senior dog in his foster home. He reads her body language very well and doesn't mind being corrected when she is done playing and he still has that puppy energy to burn. He just grabs one of his toys nearby and scampers off to continue playing by himself. He would benefit from having a confident fur-sibling that can show him the ropes and be his cuddle buddy after they play. Because he has such a sweet and gentle demeanor, it is likely that he will be able to acclimate to having a cat in his forever home. Slow introductions and separating with baby gates is a must when first bringing Samuel into a home with cats so they can get to know each other at a slow pace before doing face to face introductions. Samuel has met multiple children ranging in ages from 5 years old and up, and he loves them all. He is very gentle and sweet, and loves to receive affection from everyone he meets. He would do well in a home with kids of all ages, but he would really love to have kids that can play and cuddle with him. Because he is a goofy pup that doesn't know how big he is, he may trip a small child who isn't steady on their feet though. He also cannot distinguish his toys from human toys, so he will need a designated toy box just for his dog toys and be redirected to his toys if he tries to play with a human kid's toys.
Samuel is potty trained and leash trained, and is learning to master kennel training. His foster mom takes him outside for potty breaks a minimum of three times a day, and he won't have an accident inside at all once he is on a consistent schedule. He will notify you that he needs to go outside by lingering by the back door and nudging it with his nose. He is a gentleman on a leash and walks very well both with another dog and by himself. He can sometimes get excited when initially walking out the door, but just hold up a treat while you shut the door and he will sit patiently until you're ready to continue on the walk. He currently goes in a kennel while his foster mom goes into the office a few days a week, and he will whine for a couple of minutes until he finally settles down and starts chewing on one of his dog bones. He sleeps on a dog bed next to his foster mom's bed at night, and will stay in that spot the entire night. He would love to snuggle up in bed with his forever humans every night so he can get in as many cuddles as possible.
Samuel's ideal home would be one where he can be included in his family’s daily life and get plenty of love and cuddle time. He would do best in a home with a fenced yard to run and play in. He could acclimate to living in an apartment, condo, or townhouse, but only if his human works from home or can take him to a doggy day care a few days a week to let him play while they're out of the home. He would really love to go to the office with his human if they work in a dog friendly office as he would be perfectly content laying by your feet while you work all day. He would thrive in a home with other playful, confident dogs and also with kids to run around and play with. If he is the only dog in the home, he would benefit from going to doggy day care to help him burn his puppy energy while socializing with some doggy friends. No public dog parks for this sweet boy (who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways), but he would love to have fun adventures at Sniff Spots or doggy day care occasionally for playtime and exercise if he does live in an apartment, condo, or townhouse without a private fenced-in yard. Whether he’s exploring the outdoors or curled up for snuggles, Samuel just wants to share life with his people. He’s so excited to find a forever family who will give him all the love, adventure, and companionship he dreams of.
