Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rosco is a young, happy-go-lucky pup who’s pure fun from nose to tail! With his sleek black coat and bright white chest, he looks like he’s wearing a little tuxedo — but don’t let that fool you. This boy is all zoomies, wiggles, and “let’s play again!” energy.
He’s still learning the ropes and will definitely benefit from some patient training, but he’s got all the makings of a superstar companion: he’s affectionate, eager to please, and absolutely full of life.
Rosco is searching for a loving home where he can run, play, and grow into the amazing dog he’s meant to be. If you’re ready for a playful, energetic sidekick who’ll adore you endlessly, Rosco is your guy. 🐾🖤 Give us a call at (740) 314-5583 for more information!

More about this shelter
We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
