My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Boogie: a former shy-guy and FIP survivor who is sweet as can be, looking for a family to give all his love and chunky snuggles to!

*Long-term resident alert - Boogie has been with us for over a year now and would really love his chance at forever for the holidays <3

_____

Boogie and his mom Disco were living in a stray cat colony in Houston, and were extremely skittish and wary of humans. When he was a couple months old, Boogie developed a severe upper respiratory infection. He was trapped as part of a TNR (trap/neuter/return) effort, but because of his terrible cough and other symptoms no one could bear to put him back out on the streets.

And so began our "socialization adventure" together... In addition to his respiratory infection, Boogie was diagnosed with FIP, which is a very serious and potentially deadly virus. While being nursed back to health with daily medication and monitoring, Boogie slowly but surely started to warm up to human companionship. Every day he started to feel better, we saw a little more of his personality shine through: he went from a skinny and scraggly street cat to a VERY chunky, happy, and playful kitten. We're happy to say he is completely clear of FIP and kicked the virus's butt!

Because of his "kitty cold" however, Boogie will always have a slight snort and crusties around his nose. When he is stressed, he will also be prone to developing a respiratory infection, which means he will have a very runny nose and snotty sneezes. Over the past year in foster care, he has only had two flare-ups and both were easily managed with a week or two of daily nose drops. We hope this won't deter his perfect family from giving him a chance, because he really is a fabulous little guy!!

ABOUT BOOGIE:

Even though he is older than most of his foster siblings, Boogie loves to play with the tiny kittens. He wrestles, chases toys, and snuggles with any new fosters that join the crew - he is the epitome of innocence with a heart of gold.

Boogie has a purr like a lawnmower and will beeline for your lap, begging for snuggles and pets. Sometimes he gets so excited that he gives love nips - it can take you by surprise, but it's his way of showing affection when he's really happy!

Nowadays, Boogie is brave and friendly, and is usually the first foster cat in the house to come up to a visitor and say hello. He is obsessed with his ribbon wand toy and will constantly try to convince anyone nearby to play with him. His transition has been amazing to watch and we're all so proud of him! There's no doubt he's ready to meet his forever family now.

Are you looking to make a real difference in a kitty's life? Do you have the patient and loving home that can help a cat with a tough start get the happy ending they deserve? Boogie may be your perfect companion.

Boogie is about 1.5 years old, neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped. He does a great job of keeping his litterbox tidy... All he needs now is his forever home.

Boogie's ideal family will be understanding when he needs some time to adjust to a new environment, and willing to give him the TLC he needs if he has a flare-up of his respiratory infection. A quieter home with cats would be ideal, but Boogie would also be happy as an only cat if his human companions are home enough to give him all the love. We think he would eventually warm up to a calm and cat-savvy pup as well, and could be an ideal playmate for a gentle child as well.
