My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Aries. This wild and crazy but sweet and affectionate, six month old larger size Shih Tzu mix pup is now available for adoption. He is only six months old, but he's spent most of his life confined to a crate. He never had the experiences of running, playing and getting all this puppy energy out. He also had no puppy training. Now that he is at the rescue, he is learning. He is doing very very well now with his potty training, but he still needs to learn som puppy manners like no jumping, no taking food off the table, no barking, etc. but he is just a baby and with proper structure, discipline and love, he is going to be an amazing pup. He is such a happy, happy soul and just loves running and playing with his toys and rumbling and tumbling with the other young dogs here. We strongly advise a fenced in yard where he can get out and burn up some of this energy. For the same reason, he may not do well with kitties. His high energy and longing to play may intimidate them. Aries is approximately six months old and weighs18 pounds. This guy is really adorable and we'd love to see him go with an experienced person that can teach him to be a well-behaved pup and give him a loving home that he so deserves. He is neutered, healthy, has his distemper and rabies vaccinations and micro chipped. PS. Pardon his bad hair day. He was having too much fun playing today to worry about looking pretty. Please visit our website at https://sites.google.com/view/muddymoosemutts/home or email pawrescued2016@gmail.com for an application. His adoption fee is $575.

Go meet their pets

We do NOT have a brick and mortar shelter. Our dogs are in a home environment awaiting adoption and all meet and greets will be scheduled after an application has been received.

We frequently do adoption events in our local area and you can often find us at Torrington Petco, Waterbury PetSmart, Winsted Tractor Supply and Winsted Feed Store, showing off our gorgeous dogs! Check out our Facebook page for upcoming adoption events.

More about this rescue

Formerly Meade Canine Rescue New England, Muddy Moose Mutts became a new independent rescue in April 2017. In 2024, Muddy Moose Mutts saved over 150 dogs, many of which were on lists to be euthanized at the kill shelters they were in. Many came from local pounds as strays. Many were saved from Texas ahead of the hurricane. Many were abused, neglected, and malnourished. Many were owner surrenders where the owners had died or lost their home. All were in search of a new loving forever home. And that is where Muddy Moose Mutts stepped in.

Each day, taking in a new dog with unknown issues, can lead to a drastic increase in our expenses. We do not discriminate against the dogs we rescue. We take in the young and the old, the healthy and the sick, and the unfriendly and the adorable. We are there for the dogs in need. We have treated dogs in need of surgery for bladder or kidney stones and mammary tumors, Cushing's disease, cancer, provided life-saving heartworm treatment, provided dental work for dogs with rotting teeth, provided long term hospice care, and worked with dogs in desperate need of human interaction and guidance. Most importantly, we provided these dogs with a loving and caring home environment while they waited for their forever homes.

Please consider supporting our mission by checking out our adoptable dogs for your new best friend. If you are un-able to adopt, please consider a donation to help us help these deserving dogs. You can learn more about the rescue at https://sites.google.com/view/muddymoosemutts/home
