My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Simba, a sweet and silly Maltese-Poodle mix with a heart full of charm! He may be a little shy when you first meet him, but with a gentle, slow approach-and a few tasty treats-he warms up quickly. Treats are truly the way to his heart; he'll happily sit and even "dance" to earn them! Once he feels comfortable, Simba's playful and energetic personality really shines. You'll often find him lounging on his belly with his back legs kicked out behind him, happily chewing on a toy or treat. And when it's playtime? Plush, squeaky toys and a good game of fetch are his absolute favorites! As a Maltipoo, Simba will need regular grooming to keep his coat healthy and comfortable. Grooming can make him a bit nervous, but with patience, kindness, and plenty of treats, he has shown great progress. Because he can still be timid with certain types of handling, he would do best in a home with children over the age of 7. Simba is interested in other dogs, but very exuberant play styles can be overwhelming for him. For this reason, he would thrive either as an only dog or in a home with calm, easygoing canine companions. Think Simba might be your perfect match? He is currently available by appointment only. Please call the Behavior Helpline at (831) 264-5422 to learn more and schedule a meet-and-greet!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Four simple steps to adopt a pet
1. Visit the SPCA at 1002 Monterey-Salinas Highway across from WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Visit with the pet you are interested in adopting to see if his personality fits your lifestyle.
2. If you are adopting a new dog and already have one at home, you will need to introduce them at the SPCA to ensure a good match. When adopting, please bring your current dog with you. Our animal care staff will assist you with introducing your current dog to the dog you are hoping to adopt. We also prefer when possible that all family members living in the home meet any new pet before adopting.
3. The SPCA adoption process takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. All paperwork, vaccination records, and microchip information will be provided at this time.
4. Take your new lifelong family member home!

We understand that sometimes potential adopters are at work or school, coming from long distances, or need time to gather pets and family together to meet their potential new adoptee. Because of this, the SPCA offers a 24 hour hold on adoptable pets.
Holds cost $30 for a 24 hour period.
