My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Isabel!

This sweet and affectionate young dog came to us after a rough start in life. She's looking for a quiet and loving home to help her blossom. Isabel came from a home with multiple other dogs, so she's looking for a home where she can be the center of attention. This girl loves nothing more than to cuddle up with her humans, and will let you know!

Isabel is not housetrained, so a family experienced with positive reinforcement training would be ideal. She also still needs to be spayed, so we are only considering applications in the lower mainland that are able to transport her to her surgery date.

Do you think you could be Isabel's person? Apply online at adopt.spca.bc.ca and we will be in touch with the first suitable applicant.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
