My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Currently located at our Evansville, IN, location

FRITO

This handsome pup, born in late January 2025, is looking for a home that understands his quirks and loves him for who he is. Frito can be a bit of a snack hog—he resource guards food and high-value items. He is looking for a patient adopter who can give him structure and continue positive training.

Frito is crate-trained but will still need work on potty training. He has done fine in a home around kids, dogs, and cats as long as his boundaries are respected.

He’s ready to be someone’s one best friend—could that be you?

All of our dogs are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested, and treated if necessary.

More about this shelter

It Takes A Village Rescue, Inc. is a non-kill 501(c)(3) rescue dedicated to doing what it takes to find loving homes for stray, abandoned, and surrendered animals, and to keep these animals safe and free from further suffering. Our mission is "To work as one in helping homeless animals irrespective of breed, location or circumstance." By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, veterinarians and partner rescues or shelters, we are able to rescue countless animals every year and provide them with loving temporary care as we work to find them well-matched forever homes. Although we do not discriminate based on breed, size or color, we have a particular interest in bully breeds, special medical needs, senior dogs, black dogs and other hard-to-place animals.
