My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I know you’re really busy this time of year but I’d like to take a minute to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me in hopes that you can help me find a loving home. My name is Snickers-but I also love to be called Snickerdoodle- you know like the cookies you love? I’m about eight years old and have lived as a stray most of my life. Many months ago, I started showing up on the back deck of a nice lady who kept offering food and shelter. She was so patient and gave me time and space to feel comfortable. Then one day I got brave and rubbed her hand with my head when she put my food bowl down! Wow, did I love to be stroked! Long story short, I was invited to come inside the house and I happily accepted. The home already had three cats but the mom and dad inside worked super hard to allow me my own space and to get to know my surroundings before introducing me to the other cats. I did everything right – played with my toys, enjoyed climbing on a cat tree, ate good food, used my litter box every time, and slowly began to show what an affectionate, sweet girl I really am. Sadly, even after months of a super slow integration, one of the cats was just too territorial and would not leave me alone. It was beginning to make me fearful and stressed. My loving mom and dad had to make the tough decision to take me into the shelter to give me some peace.
I am a little shy at first, but once I get to know you, I am so wonderfully affectionate and playful. I love pets and brushes!!
I really am the best girl and I believe I just know there is the right home for me out there! Thank you! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Snickers is positive for FIV and lives in the FIV room
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)
FIV is an auto immune disorder. Cats affected with this virus often are unable to fight off illnesses as well as cats that are not positive.
How do cats get the virus?
FIV spreads among cats is through bite wounds or from mom. These are typically pretty aggressive fights.
•Can FIV and non FIV live together?
Studies have shown the cats can live together without transferring the disease. This is at the owners discretion and we ask for you to do your homework.
Can people or dogs get FIV?
No! They can live with other animals just fine.
