My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Holly is a tender-hearted senior cat whose shy nature makes her most comfortable in a quiet, predictable home where she can take her time to feel safe. After her previous elderly owner passed away, Holly was pretty sad to find herself in unfamiliar surroundings but is adjusting and letting her purrs and sweet personality start to come out Though she startles easily, her gentle sweetness shines through in the soft ways she seeks connection, often expressing her affection with unexpectedly loud, rumbling purrs once she trusts you. Holly's age and timid temperament mean she needs a bit of extra support, especially with grooming-she appreciates a patient hand to help keep her coat clean and comfortable. With kindness, routine, and a calm environment, Holly blossoms into a devoted, loving companion who just wants to feel secure and cared for.

*HOLLY IS CURRENTLY AWAITING A DENTAL SURGERY AND NOT ABLE TO OFFICIALLY BE ADOPTED JUST YET. LOCAL ADOPTERS MAY HAVE THE OPTION TO FOSTER TO ADOPT UNTIL HOLLY'S DENTAL CARE IS COMPLETED.

Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
