Take the Pet Home
Hi there! My name Kaya, and here is some important info you need to know about me:
Breed: Anatolian mix
Age: 2 years
Gender: female
Height: 70 cm
Weight: 24 kg
Highlights: brave, confidence, playful, cuddly, friendly
My name means brave, which is exactly what I have been since the day I was born. My story started when my mother was rescued while still nursing all six of us puppies. We were tiny and helpless, but kind people saved us and gave us a second chance at life.
Now I live in a private shelter, where I eat my meals and go for walks with volunteers on weekends. I’m great on a harness and leash, and I love exploring and spending time outside.
I’m a gentle, affectionate girl who enjoys being around people and other dogs.

I’m not aggressive at all and I don’t chase cats — I’d much rather cuddle and be petted. Sometimes I nudge my way in if another dog is getting all the love — I can’t help it, I adore attention! I can be a little shy around new people or children at first.

When I’m unsure, I stay still and wait quietly until I feel safe again. With patience and kindness, I warm up quickly and show my sweet, loving side.
Now I’m ready to start my next chapter — finding my forever home in Vancouver. I’ve been brave my whole life, and now I’m hoping to be loved just as much as I’ve been brave.
Energy level: moderate

Disclaimer:
It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us by international rescuers or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and may behave differently in different situations based on the adopter and environment.
Please note:
LALDR highly encourages adopters to research local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Early guidance prevents most behavioral issues. Training should begin only after your dog is relaxed and settled—usually after a couple of weeks. Basic courses, even those at local pet stores, can be extremely beneficial for socialization and bonding. While most dogs fly directly to Vancouver with escort volunteers, some may arrive via Toronto or Montreal. If this happens, additional cargo fees within Canada will apply (typically $350–$550 depending on the dog’s size). LALDR will be transparent about these costs.
The age and breed of dogs are best-guess estimates and cannot be guaranteed. Homes with children under 12 are generally not approved unless a dog is known to do well with kids; in those cases, children 8+ may be considered. More information is on our website.
[MID-EAST] Vaccinations include rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1, and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given due to lack of local need.
[TURKEY] Dogs receive 4D SNAP tests for heartworm, ehrlichiosis, leishmania, and anaplasmosis.

As adopters of overseas dogs will be taking their dog home from the airport, they have a couple of weeks to decide if the dog is a fit.
