My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Helloooo friends! My name is Loki, and if you’re looking for the most friendly, outgoing, and purrtastic fella out there, we should get together. My foster mom raves about the volume of my purr motor, which activates for the following in no particular order: food, pets, scritches, giving kisses, being held, food (again). In fact, you hardly touch me and I’ll be happily purring just to hang out with you. Is it cold outside? I come equipped with the most darling mittens since I’m a polydactyl boy, and you wouldn’t believe how well I make biscuits on a soft blanket because of it!

Loki would easily win the “Mr Congeniality” title in a local kitty pageant. Everyone he meets is a potential friend, and he’s very patient with his siblings, never hesitating to share or snuggle up on a bed or blanket together. He will occasionally gift you soft chatter to say hello, but isn’t a huge talker or very loud about it – it’s more affectionate conversation. He loves to chase his crinkle ball and other toys around, has been very good about getting his nails trimmed, and uses his litter box with perfect manners. Loki will fill a lucky home with so much love.

This kitten is part of the Mom and Me program. This allows adopters to adopt a kitten at the regular adoption fee but gives adopters the opportunity to also adopt the mother for only $100 more. This keeps families together and helps our Momma cats get into a new home sooner. Momma kitty is Lia. If you are interested in this program, fill out an application and indicate which kitten and Mom you are interested in.

Loki is 5 months old and 5 lbs. All cats have had a vet exam, are up to date on vaccinations, have been given a dewormer and treated for fleas and ear mites if needed. If you are interested in meeting this cat please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We only adopt out animals to homes within 60 miles of the Twin Cities. Our adoption process begins with the return of our pre-adoption form, available on our website. After reviewing your application a meeting is scheduled between you and the pup, sometimes in the fosters home or at a neutral dog friendly place. If any resident dogs are in your home, it is recommended that the pups meet at this time. After the meeting a home visit is scheduled and if everything goes well with the visit the adoption is finalized at that time. A home visit by one of Safe Hands representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pup will be living sometime during the adoption process.

Go meet their pets

Come on out and meet all of our great adoptable pups!! On weekends we have meetings at random locations. See our events page on our website or social media.

More about this rescue

Safe Hands is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in high kill shelters. Of great importance to us is to reduce the stray population and need for healthy animal euthanasia through spay/neuter programs, education, and promotion of respect for the furry creatures that share our lives.

We are a small, no-kill, volunteer run organization. All of our dogs listed are in foster homes waiting to be adopted and because of this, we get to know the dogs' personalities very well and use this information to match them to an appropriate home. We do not have a physical shelter.

This rescue is not funded by public funds nor does it receive many donations so it is dependent on adoption fees to keep operating. We have a great need for foster homes. If you are interested in providing foster care, and live within an hour of the Twin Cities, please e-mail us
Donations ALWAYS needed are: dog crates, puppy pee pads, natures miracle (for pet stain removal), Nutrisource brand puppy and dog food, Lysol disinfecting wipes, paper towels, large clean towels, dog toys, leashes, collars and gas cards to help with our transports.
