Meet Nacho, a handsome 3-year-old Lab/German Shepherd with a heart of gold. Nacho’s future forever family will hit the jackpot with this loyal boy who is currently working on his manners at a board & train program. It’s not often you find a rescue pup with the training that Nacho has!
Nacho holds a special place in our hearts. Nacho was adopted as a puppy by a family with young children, another dog, and a cat. Nacho grew up with this family and loved them dearly, but after three years, they abruptly surrendered Nacho to the shelter, citing that he had developed resource guarding and anxiety-based aggression. After discussions with the family, it became clear to us that Nacho was not receiving the attention, exercise, or structure to allow him to flourish.
Facing euthanasia at the shelter, Justice for Paws arranged for Nacho to attend a three week intensive board & train program to get him back on the right track. We’re so happy to report that Nacho has been thriving in his program, and his trainer says he’s a loving boy who enjoys playing with all the other dogs. Nacho’s lucky adopters will receive a free training session with his current trainer to help him adapt to his new home.
While Nacho is still weary of strangers, he is your most loyal companion once he trusts you. He is house-trained, neutered, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. Nacho currently weighs 90 lbs but could stand to lose 10-15 (couldn’t we all, Nacho).
The ideal home for Nacho would be with an active family who can commit to giving him the exercise and mental stimulation he needs. His new family should be patient and understanding as he adjusts and works through his anxiety issues. While not required, experience with shepherd breeds would be beneficial in understanding his smart, loyal nature. Nacho can go to a home either as an only dog or with other siblings (cats or dogs!), though he'll need proper, supervised introductions to ensure everyone gets along well. He is afraid of dogs at first but then loves to play. His play style may be too much for small or senior dogs. Young children may be too unpredictable for Nacho, but we think he’d be great with older kids.
Please help give Nacho the second chance he deserves.
