My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Poppy is an adorable fluffball who is destined to be a big girl, thanks to her Old English Sheepdog mama and Black Russian Terrier dad. Her foster family lovingly calls her Pop-Tart, Pop Princess, K/Cake Pop, and even Mrs. Papadopoulos because she’s just that special.

Poppy is the perfect mix of feisty, playful, smart, and snuggly. She loves to romp around with her big pittie foster brother and sometimes gets so excited she forgets her leash manners, but she’s learning! She enjoys walks, outdoor playtime, and will thrive in a home with a yard.

Training? She’s already ahead of the game.

  • Crate trained and sleeps through the night

  • Wakes around 6 AM for a potty break, & happily cuddles for another hour on weekends

  • Already knows “sit” and now offers it when she wants something

  • Working on “down” and general patience, which is tough when you’re excited about everything

  • Food-motivated in the best way she hasn’t met a treat she doesn’t like

  • No concerning destructive chewing, especially with proper alternatives

  • House training in progress and going well

Most importantly, Poppy is a total cuddle bug who adores people. She loves to snuggle, learn, explore, and be near her humans.

Important Adoption Note:
Because Poppy is expected to grow into a very large adult dog, we are only accepting applications from current homeowners for her. This is not a standard requirement for our rescue, and renters are absolutely welcome to apply for our other dogs. For Poppy specifically, we want to avoid potential issues with breed/weight restrictions or lease limitations as she grows.

If you’re looking for a smart, loving, fun puppy who will grow into a big, loyal best friend, Poppy is your girl. She’s ready to bring joy, play, and endless snuggles into her forever home! She will require continued commitment to training and socialization and this will be a big part of application screening as we want to set you both up for success!

The adoption donation is $260 and will include spay, microchip and age appropriate vaccines.  Please follow the link below to submit an application:  https://bit.ly/3GDeyyo

More about this rescue

The mission and vision of Hunter’s Village Rescue is to save dogs in need by placing them in loving forever homes. We are a foster home based nonprofit dog rescue located in the Hunter’s Creek Community (SW Orlando), Florida. HVR has identified a need in our community to assist, rescue, provide medical care, shelter, safety and love for abandoned and unwanted animals. We aim to instill in our community an awareness of these animals and encourage people to value animals while treating them with respect and kindness. We provide screening of all adoption applicants and assure dogs are placed into loving and nurturing forever homes. HVR provides these needed services through donations from our community and fundraising events.
