My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet 1 year old Shadow – the sweetest serious-faced snugglebug!

Shadow is the perfect mix of playful and easygoing. Out in the yard this 59 pound hunk will romp and explore with medium energy, but once he’s inside, he settles beautifully and is happy to hang out, nap, or curl up next to you. He’s very affectionate, super cuddly, and still does a cute little jumpy move when he wants attention or a hug!

Shadow loves being near his humans and would make an amazing “go to work with you” dog—he’d be perfectly content snoozing in a bed by your side all day. He rides great in the car, walks wonderfully on leash (rarely pulls and always checks in with his person), and is crate trained.

He’s dog-friendly, people-friendly, and wonderful with kids ages 6+ (that’s just the age group he’s been around—he’d likely be great with younger ones too!). He can be a bit timid at first, but once he decides you’re safe, he becomes all love and soft sweetness. No resource guarding, no noticeable prey drive, and he’s becoming more curious with toys each day.

Shadow is still working on housebreaking and learning his basic commands, but he tries so hard to please. He’s gentle, happy, loving, and truly has the sweetest soul—just wrapped up in a serious little face.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Shadow is your guy. He can’t wait to find his forever family to love!

More about this rescue

Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue (AAHA) is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and assisting animals in crisis. We actively combat animal cruelty in any form.

We have a particular commitment to pit bulls and aim to raise awareness about the breed, help those in need, and educate the public:
•We seek to promote this lovely yet unfairly maligned breed as the sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs they are.
•We assume stewardship over their well-being and strive to make this world a better place for them.
•We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals, and the community at large, advocating for any animal in harm's way.
•We also function in an advisory role for private citizens who seek assistance and guidance in better caring for their pets.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Please help us help the animals!
