My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kona is an approximately almost 2 year old domestic shorthaired brown tabby. He is currently in foster care.

Meet Kona, a delightful young cat whose personality truly shines. Sweet, friendly, and confident, he’s always eager to greet you with gentle nudges and enthusiastic companionship. Curious by nature, Kona loves exploring new toys, environments, and little adventures without hesitation.

Kona has a lot of energy and would thrive in a home that offers plenty of enrichment and playtime. He throws himself wholeheartedly into fun, racing after toys, pouncing on moving shapes, chasing wand toys and lasers, and zooming around like a little race car. Mini tennis balls are a favorite, and catnip in any form, spray or herb, is one of his greatest joys. He also loves to wrestle and play with both cats and dogs, making him a great fit for an active, social household.

Because he plays so hard, Kona can sometimes become overstimulated. He will do best with adopters who can recognize when he needs a short break and give him time to settle and reset.

Affection is one of Kona’s favorite things. Nicknamed “puddle cat,” he completely melts when you pet him, flopping down and turning liquid for attention. He loves belly rubs, enjoys being touched, and seeks out affection whenever possible. Kona is very people-oriented and values companionship highly. He is almost always near someone and prefers sleeping close by rather than being alone.

Food is another great love of Kona’s life. He loves all food and every kind of treat and can be a bit of a glutton, sometimes getting pushy when food is involved. It’s all part of his enthusiastic and food-motivated personality.

Kona is a playful, affectionate, social cat who wants to be involved in everything and would make a wonderful companion in a home ready to match his energy and give him plenty of love.

He would do best in an adult-only household. He may be easily overstimulated by the energy and noise of children, so we recommend a home with adults or older teenagers who can provide a peaceful and predictable environment.

Kona needs a special home with a high-energy family or a high-energy cat or dog friend who can keep up with his playful spirit. He will do best with other pets that can be patient with his energy and tolerate unlimited playtime. Because he can get overstimulated at times, he does best when gently redirected to his toys to help him refocus. He can also become overstimulated around food and is still learning to feel more comfortable when his meals are being placed out.

He is neutered, fully vaccinated with RCCP and rabies, FIV and FeLV negative, microchipped, and on parasite prevention. His adoption fee is $300. To adopt, please submit an adoption application found in the drop down menu on our website.

Additional adoption info

Most of our cats live in foster homes. Some are available to meet at satellite locations such as Pet Valu and Ren's Depot. A few foster homes are available to meet and greets at their home, or we also do meet and greets at request at our shelter prior to adoption. Most of these results in same day adoptions, and only take place after an adoption interview.
