My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Surfer was brought in by a community member on December 2, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Surfer, a brindle boy who's riding the waves of puppyhood at his own gentle pace. This sweet youngster can be quite shy when meeting new people or encountering unfamiliar situations, so slow introductions and a patient family will help him feel safe and understood. Once he warms up, Surfer's playful side comes out - he can get a bit overexcitable with some jumpy or mouthy behavior. He'll thrive with positive reinforcement-based training to help him build confidence and practice polite manners as he matures. Surfer will do best in a calm home without a lot of foot traffic and needs a family without children under 10. With the right environment and steady support, this handsome pup is sure to grow into a loyal, loving companion.

At SDHS:
Surfer has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Surfer is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
