My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Halo and I am a Catalina Macaw (a hybrid of a Blue and Gold Macaw and a Scarlett Macaw) also known as a rainbow macaw. I am 20 years old and a female. I am healthy but my torso is nude (might be due to stress and be rehomed multiple times). I am tame but cage dominant and will step up. I have a potty mouth and definitely prefer men. I like to shred toys and like to be held/preened if you are a chosen person. I have a pretty good vocabulary. I can be very sweet in the right home. My adoption fee is $900.

Step 2: Phone interview
Step 3: Initial visit with birds
Step 4: Second visit and take home bird
Please Note: the adoption fee does not include a cage, but we do sometimes have used cages for sale. A few days worth of food is included, and usually each bird comes with at least one free toy.

Burge Bird Rescue is attached to Burge Bird Services, a 100% avian veterinary hospital in the south Kansas City Missouri area. We are a no-kill nonprofit shelter for all kinds of birds from finches to macaws, from pigeons to ducks. Many of our birds have special needs, and no bird is ever turned away due to medical issues. In 2013 we helped over 300 birds in need!
