My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Temperance & Cordelia!

If you're looking for twice the love and a whole lot of cuteness, look no farther than this sister duo! We were first contacted about these two by Paterson Animal Control, who told us a resident found a pair of sisters - one with a horrible injury. We immediately jumped on it and picked the girls up, only to find that Cordelia had been pretty badly beaten up by another animal. Her tail was completely degloved and a chunk of her ear was missing. Temperance was unscathed, but was rightfully fearful when she first arrived at the shelter.

Since then, our vets determined that amputating Cordelia's tail would be the best option for her. With her sister Temperance's support and comfort, Cordelia has made a full recovery! Now, these two are incredibly confident and affectionate. Cordelia will sprint across the room with her little bunny hops, and Temperance is always one step behind her.

In their such short lives, these girls have been through a whole lot, but it never affected their spirits. Temperance and Cordelia are so sweet and social, and love nothing more than wrestling, playing, and cuddling with one another. They truly have an unbreakable bond and would add so much love into your life!

More about this shelter

Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.

To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
