Dove and Blue Jay:

These bonded littermates have very different personalities. They’re still shy in new situations, but they’ve made amazing progress over their months in foster care since arriving at just six weeks old.

Dove is always ready for a game with the feather teaser, and once you’ve earned her trust she becomes a devoted lap companion. Blue Jay (BJ) prefers to play it cool, but once he decides you’ve earned his approval he melts into long, contented petting sessions. He may not be a lap cat just yet, but he loves being close to his people.

A calm household will help them settle in comfortably. They’re accustomed to cat-friendly dogs, and Dove even adores the foster’s pup. BJ is more neutral about canine roommates. They aren’t comfortable around young children, so a quieter environment would suit them best. Their long coats need a little routine brushing to stay tangle-free, but they tolerate it well.

They have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, combo tested, dewormed, and flea treated. A meet and greet can be arranged once an application has been processed and approved.

Our name is our mission statement. SCRATCH -

H- Helping cat caretakers.

We are a cat welfare organization that concentrates on helping feral cat colony caretakers manage their colonies through TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return). The outcome of managed colonies is fewer free roaming cats, healthier colonies and no new kittens. This will keep more cats out of shelters and result in less euthanasia. You can see how this is preferable to the trap and kill method that has been common in the past. During this process, we acquire friendly cats that have become homeless and found their way to the food source, and kittens that are young enough to socialize. These are the cats and kittens that make up most of our adoptable population.

All of our adoptable kitties are completely vetted and are observed for personality and behavior. Our kittens are given constant human contact and interaction and most are completely socialized to people by 3 months. We will sometimes have a few slow learners and we keep working with them, but we will also offer them for adoption, so their new owner can complete the socializing process. The advantage to this is having a cat that is totally bonded to you. The disadvantage is that they are often shy around others for quite awhile.
