Have you ever said, “I want a dog who’s affectionate but not clingy,” or asked, “Where can I get a dog who can be active but also relax?”
Look no further.
MEET LULU!
I’m a 3–4-year-old 35 lb Staffie / Pit / German Shepherd mix, with a great balance of affection, energy, and calmness. I love walks, playing fetch, and spending time with other dogs, but I’m just as happy stretched out on the couch while you read. I currently live with five other dogs in my foster home and enjoy being part of the pack.
Here’s what my foster parents say about me:
Lulu…
• Is an affectionate, people-focused dog.
• Is dog-friendly.
• Has good impulse control.
• Has completed basic training.
• Is food-motivated and responds to clear verbal cues.
• Has been socialized in a variety of environments and handles new situations well.
• Walks well on a leash.
Here’s what I’m looking for:
I take relationships seriously and am looking for my human life partner(s). I will follow you around the house and curl up beside you on the sofa. If you let me, I will even share your pillow. If not, I’ll sneak in for early morning cuddles. I want a person who will continue teaching me and taking me on adventures. I love being out and about, although I will chase a squirrel or two and tend to be overzealous about meeting new dogs off leash. I need someone who will keep safe on a leash and is happy to have a canine partner for life.
I’m embarrassed to tell you, but in the spirit of starting our relationship with honesty: On my first day out of the shelter, after six months getting restless in a kennel, I got overstimulated when my foster mom came home. In the chaos of the rest of the pack greeting her, I bit her on the ankle. My foster parents forgave me, and with a little training and thoughtful introductions, I haven’t done anything like this again. Once I decompressed and got into the groove with the family, everything clicked, and I’ve settled into a steady, reliable, happy dog they’re proud of. I hope you don’t hold this against me.
I’m spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and my adoption fee is $400. I’m currently living in Olympia, WA.
If you think I may be your perfect canine partner, please apply and I hope to meet you!

My Way Home Dog Rescue is a small group of volunteers located in and around Portland, OR, helping one dog at a time. Dogs are housed in volunteer foster homes to assess their behavior and level of training, and to develop their basic social skills. They often have exposure to other pets and people that they would not get in a shelter setting. The stresses of group living in shelters sometimes masks a dog's true personality. We want our dogs to shine and strive to make the best match possible.
