My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Olive!

*BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, NO WALK-INS*

Olive is a 3 year old German Shepard and Border Collie cross. She is a bright and energetic young girl who's eager to find an active home to grow with. True to her breeds, Olive has lots of energy and a playful spirit.

Olive is still learning about the world and will benefit from continued training and confidence-building through positive socialization. With guidance, patience, and regular activity, she'll blossom into a confident and well-mannered companion. She can become over excited, so would do best in an adult only home. Olive would do well with slow introductions to other dog friends but would be best suited as the only pet in the home, she will also require direct outdoor access to help with all her energy!

If you're looking for a fun, affectionate dog who's ready for adventure and eager to learn, Olive may be the perfect match for you!

Do you think you could be Olive's person? Here is how to find out:

Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs.

*Side note: the more you add to your application about you and what you are looking for in a canine companion, the better we can match animals with adopters!

Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
