My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sunny & Sandy – The Sweetest Mother–Son Duo You'll Ever Meet!
Meet Sunny, the bright orange sunbeam, and Sandy, his gorgeous creamy brown mama the color of soft beach sand. This adorable bonded pair is searching for a loving forever home they’ll light up every single day. Sunny shines just like his name – affectionate, curious, and endlessly sweet. He’s a soft, sweet kitten who couldn’t harm a thing, happily following his mom around and learning his own little spark of independence. He’s gentle, expressive, and full of charm in that way only a young orange boy can be.
Sandy is a creamy brown beauty with a warm, peaceful presence. She’s a loving, mellow mama who enjoys being held, petted, and close to her humans. She’s the perfect blend of affectionate and independent -she’ll gladly cuddle, and she also loves sleeping nearby whenever you sleep, keeping quiet watch over her people. She’s incredibly gentle, calm, and well-mannered. Both love their food and are exceptionally well-behaved, tidy, and sweet-natured – a great fit for first-time cat parents or anyone wanting a peaceful, loving pair.
Why They Must Stay Together: Sunny and Sandy share a heartwarming bond. Sunny looks to his mom for comfort and confidence, and Sandy enjoys caring for him – even when she appreciates a little “me time.” They complement each other perfectly and bring a warm, calming presence to any home. They must be adopted together, and the family who chooses them will be very lucky.
Adoption Highlights: sweet, gentle, very affectionate; great manners and clean habits; a bonded pair who bring calm, cozy energy to any home.
Perfect home: A calm, cozy household that loves snuggles, gentle play, and the joy of watching a sweet mother – son bond every day.

Adoption Process

  • Fill out an adoption interest application HERE.

  • Our goal is finding lifelong, loving homes for our animals, so we try to find the best match between animal and adopter. We can help advise you on which animals to meet based on your situation.

  • You can meet some of our animals at our weekend adoption events, or we can arrange for a meeting in the foster home. If it’s a good match, the foster parent will come to visit your home in person. This is to make sure your home is safe and secure for a new companion animal.

  • Note: IAR makes every effort to please our adopters, but our first concern must be for the animal’s welfare. We reserve the right to deny any application.

More about this rescue

IAR started with one woman's big dreams, a bigger heart, and a very distinctive purple pickup truck that helped her rescue countless of unwanted, abused, and homeless Triangle pets. Originally founded in 1994, IAR earned an official 501(c)(3) status in 1995. We are governed by a Board of Directors, managed by elected officers, and introduced IAR’s first paid position, General Manager, in June 2021. This role will assist with elevating our collective compassion to new heights and strengthening IAR’s impact as a whole.

Our mission is to rescue and provide safe and responsible care for homeless, abandoned, and abused animals. We shall strive to help all animals in need through our service programs. We will serve our communities through promotion of spay/neuter for all companion animals, and the education of children and adults in humane care, respect and responsibility for animals on this earth.
