My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A5740167 Meet Zena, a 2-year-old Saluki - Hound mix and a rare beauty to see at the shelter! With her sleek tricolor coat, those enormous floppy ears that bounce when she runs, and deep chocolate eyes framed by perfect little eyebrows, she’s pure hound-dog charm. She’s a bit underweight right now - her bony hips show she could use some extra meals, treats, and all the TLC you can offer. Though shy at first, Zena warms up quickly, and her sweet, vibrant personality soon shines through. And when she truly feels safe and loved, you’ll know it instantly - her long, sweeping tail will fly high like a happy flag in the breeze. This gorgeous girl is ready to flourish with a family who’ll give her the love and care she deserves. Will that be with you?

-2 year old tricolor Saluki - Hound mix

-52 pound spayed female

-up to date on all shots and preventatives, so ready to go home with you today!

-came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 11/22/25 as an owner surrender, but we have no notes and no idea why, as Zena is the sweetest girl!

-perfect manners - very easy on leash (no pulling at all!), seems to be potty trained, could be good with other calm/polite dogs (especially with thoughtful intros), and already knows basic commands like sit, so additional training should be a breeze!

More about this rescue

United Hope for Animals is a 501c3 non-profit organization committed to creating a world where our relationship with animals is guided by compassion and responsibility. We actively work toward bringing an end to the needless suffering of companion animals through community-based programs here at home and across the border.

The United States euthanizes more than one million dogs and cats each year. Through our Shelter Support Program, we work in partnership with local shelters to reduce this number by raising public awareness about shelter adoption and facilitating rescue and adoption of sheltered animals. In the process, we bring dignity and hope to the many lives that would otherwise pass anonymously through the animal control system.
