My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Some dogs are sweet.
Some dogs are loyal.
And then there are dogs like Toby - the rare ones who feel like a perfect partner. A teammate.
A steady, clear-eyed presence in your life. It sure doesn’t hurt that he is really handsome and comes with a pretty impressive resume of learning and adventure under his belt. Let me tell you, the moment I met him I knew, whoever adopts this boy is going to feel like they won the lottery!

You can get the best view of him here - VIDEO LINK -https://youtu.be/igOlJZvQsT8
where you will see moments of him running through forest fields and riding in a 4-wheeler, to his angelic face while he naps.

Can a dog be trained for adventure and companionship? I didn’t really think so until Toby. He isn’t just “trained.” He is professionally trained, attentive, and incredibly responsive to his people. This boy has been through some professional training and it shows in everything he does.

Cue List Includes:
Sit, Down, Heel, Place, Touch, Roll Over, Army Crawl, Recall (rock-solid from what we have seen), Leave It, Drop It, Shake, Watch Me, Up, Quiet, Crate, Off, Walk On and maybe even a few more.

Yes… really. He’s that dog, practically pre-programed.

My favorite thing about him, besides his eyes, are his leash skills. He’s a dream to walk! He keeps a perfect walking pace, checks in often, and stays politely by your side. He thrives with structure, purpose, and being seen. And through it all, even with me in the short time we had known eachother- he looks at you like you hung the moon.

This is a dog who says “yes!” to life. Want to go to a local cafe and enjoy the patio and lunch? He will be perfect company. And yet… back at home? He turns into a couch cuddle king, happily snoozing, snuggling, or curling up beside you while you read or watch TV. Just be forewarned, he will sit in your lap or sprawl across it if the space is right. Nobody told him he is a bit bigger than “lap-dog” size and I won’t be the one to tell him.
Toby is just shy of 4 years old and during that time he has been around a variety of dogs and knows how to read the room. He meets new dogs politely during on-leash greetings,he can go full “play hard then chill hard” with the right match, and knows how to take breaks during play while also understanding when a dog wants space. He just kind of gets it.

We’re going to be clear but kind here - transparency will help him find the right match. Toby is best suited for an adults home, teenage children are best if he is joining a family. He will need a cat-free home- his love of playing chase does not stop with only dogs, he wants to know if the cats want to play too and they hate that. This won’t surprise you if you have seen his legs- he needs a secure yard- he can clear a 6 foot fence. In his last home this was entirely remedied by them putting up a privacy screen so he couldn’t see something he could climb. Toby thrives in structure and consistency, basically he likes to know what the plan is.

How lucky would anyone feel to know they were adopting a dog who already knows the ropes. You will not be teaching Toby how to be a dog. You are simply welcoming a dog home.

At his core, Toby is so many things so lets just make a list out of it. In no particular order, he is…
*deeply loving
*intuitive
*sensitive in the best ways
*smart
*hilarious when he plays
*peaceful (and extra cute) when he rests
*a patio dog
*a “watching the sunset from the tailgate” kind of dog
*a “long walk + long nap” dog
*a “show me what you want, and I’ll do it” dog

There are wonderful dogs…then there are the rare souls- the heart dogs. Toby has all the makings of a heart dog. A pre-programmed, once-in-a-lifetime match for his person.
Toby is ready and waiting for you.
