My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oh my heart! Let me introduce you to Gizmo, he would love to be your co-pilot, as long as he doesn’t have to take the wheel, he is in the passenger seat for vibes and company.

We know love isn’t something you see, it’s more like a vision of the heart and that is where Gizmo shines! This 13-pound , Chihuahua mix does not have full sight, but he has vision and he knows how to love. Breed and birthday are not details we can guarantee given he is a rescue but Gizmo is estimated to be around 8 years old, his simple joys are back scratches, the breeze through an open car window, a warm lap to curl up on, and the sweet sound of a barista saying “pup cup!” He might not see the Starbucks sign, but he sure knows when you pull into the parking lot. AND he does the cutest dance! Take a look at his video to see for yourself!
https://youtu.be/zpDSH71c4JY

He’s treat-motivated, knows “sit,” and loves nothing more than gentle ear rubs and back scratches. Gizmo’s foster describes him as a “lap dog and a lover boy” the perfect little co-pilot for life’s everyday adventures.

Gizmo gets along well with other dogs, but his heart belongs to people. He doesn’t need a dog friend to be content, he is happiest just being close to his humans. Because he can’t see, cats are a no-go, if he could talk he would tell you they are too quiet, sneaking around all the time. Basically, those quiet little ninjas startle him. As for being a family dog, he would do best with either a calm, kid-free home or older children who understand his limitations.
He is steady, sweet, and full of soul, the kind of dog who reminds you that connection doesn’t require sight, only love.

So, if you’ve been dreaming of a loyal little shadow who rides shotgun, naps like a pro, and celebrates every pup cup like it’s the best day ever -Gizmo is your guy!

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!

We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
