Meet Europa and Ganymede, a Dynamic Duo of Sunshine and Flight!
Europa and Ganymede are a bonded pair of Sun Conures who are sibling brother and sister, both around two years old and in good health. These two are bursting with personality, movement, and curiosity and are ready to bring constant energy and joy to the right home. They must be adopted together.
Both birds are hand tame, affectionate, and very comfortable around people. They step up most of the time, but often prefer to simply fly to you instead. If they are not interested in stepping up, they will politely move away rather than use their beaks.
Europa and Ganymede are confident, social flyers and truly shine when they are out of their cage. Zooming around the house is their favorite activity, and they are excellent, skilled fliers who do not need to be coaxed out. As soon as the cage door opens, they climb up, take off, and begin exploring. Safe, open flying areas are a must for these two, and they would thrive in a home where out of cage time is the norm whenever people are home.
As Sun Conures, they do make conure noises and flock calls, especially while flying or when they feel ignored. However, for their species, they are not excessively loud. Their vocalizations are communicative rather than constant, but they are not a good fit for apartments or homes with shared walls. A high-energy household with space and tolerance for normal sun conure volume would be ideal.
They do not talk but communicate beautifully through body language, sounds, and interaction. They enjoy human company and will often hang out nearby, observing what their person is doing. They have comfortably met multiple new adults and an eight-year-old child and showed no fear or hesitation.
Europa is the bolder of the two and often initiates new adventures. She is sweet, curious, and loves giving kisses and gently grooming her person’s face. While she does not yet enjoy receiving scritches, she readily steps up or flies to her people and clearly enjoys being close. She is slightly smaller than her brother but confidently holds her own and is not shy about expressing opinions.
Ganymede is just as affectionate and playful, though he can be protective of Europa and occasionally reactive around other birds. This behavior is easily redirected and does not extend to humans. He is very bonded to his sister and often preens her, sometimes a bit too enthusiastically, which has contributed to some feather loss on Europa. This is something their future home should be mindful of and continue to monitor.
They are currently eating a healthy blend of pellets. Walnuts are their favorite treat, and they have shown interest in scrambled eggs while new fruits, vegetables, and nuts are being introduced gradually. They bathe enthusiastically in a water bowl one to two times a week and seem to thoroughly enjoy it.
Europa and Ganymede enjoy soft shreddable toys like sola balls and wicker or hemp-based items. They are average toy destroyers, curious rather than fearful, and enjoy variety. They do not show cage protective behaviors and would likely do well with other friendly birds, given proper introductions.
This bonded pair is happiest when they are active, engaged, and included in daily life. They are not couch companions, but joyful, flying companions who want to be part of everything. Their ideal home is one without shared walls, with ample out of cage time, safe flight spaces, and people who appreciate the excitement and brightness that Sun Conures bring.
Europa and Ganymede are ready to be the light in your life. If you are looking for an affectionate, energetic, and endlessly entertaining pair with many years of love ahead, these two are worth the adventure.
