We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see a sweet dog that needs our help. Willow is one of these dogs that deserves our loving assistance due to her excellent temperament and all the love she'll bring to a dog-crazy family. Our dream for this wonderful little being is to have a home filled with nothing but pure love and nurturing for the rest of her life.
Willow is a gorgeous 7ish year old Shih Tzu / Lhasa Apso mix that is amazing! She is 14 lbs of wiggles and kisses. Willow is SO sweet and once acclimated to her new life, will make a wonderful addition to a family that is seeking a full-time best friend.
Willow's Texas rescuer had the following to brag about our amazing pup:
This stunning little Shih Tzu / Lhasa Apso (we can't say her breeds with certainty as no DNA test was done) was shockingly found as a stray in New Mexico and brought into a small high-kill shelter where no dog should ever be. The kind folks at Rescued Pets Movement were contacted about saving this tiny girl's life. How could they say no..her sweet nature and kind eyes were simply irresistible.
This precious girl has the biggest, brightest eyes you’ve ever seen — the kind that look right into your heart and silently ask for love. She’s listed as 7ish or so years old, but we believe her to be younger.
She looks (and acts!) like a happy-go-lucky young girl. Despite everything she’s been through, she still comes right up to people with her waggy tail and sweet smile seeking love and affection.
Willow arrived at the shelter looking like she hadn't been cared for in a very long time, yet she was incredibly sweet. She was a bit frightened in the loud, overwhelming shelter environment, but her kind soul shines through instantly. She takes treats readily — and so gently — and she melts the moment she feels a kind hand near her.
This amazing dog absolutely does not deserve to be in a shelter. She is far too loving, gentle, and pure-hearted to spend another day without a home. All she needs is someone who will show her what it feels like to be cherished, nurtured, warm, and safe.
Upon her arrival in Texas, Willow was immediately placed in a foster home. Her foster mom wanted to share the following:
"What else can I say other then this girl is pretty much perfect!? Her fun-loving, silly, and loving personality is a joy to behold! How can this tiny stray be so absolutely wonderful? Whoever is lucky enough to have Willow join their family is truly getting a gift!
Willow is a perfect size to be able to accompany her family just about everywhere a smaller size, well-behaved dog is welcome. She will fit right into virtually every situation due to her great temperament and very sweet personality.
Farfel's would like to see our wonderful girl in a home that includes her in family time and activities (and some lap or couch-time with belly rubs would be absolutely perfect!) as well as taking that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement / force free virtual or in-person obedience classes. These classes successfully teach a smart and cooperative dog like Willow the skills to accompany her family out into the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free trainers in your area.
Willow will be a loving and devoted companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a silly, fun-loving and irresistible dog. She would love to have another gentle and fun dog to play with but it's not mandatory if her people are nurturing and involved.
Willow would also do well with a younger family that works from a home-based office. She would bask in the attention and periodic cuddles throughout the day that this life-style brings. We believe that Willow is too sensitive a girl to spend the long hours of full-time employment outside of the home alone.
Willow's non-shedding coat (although we can never swear to it) is currently shelter-sad. She therefore will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming (approximately every 8 weeks) and great nutrition. A five star food and daily salmon oil supplement will provide the nutrition necessary for Willow's coat to become cottony-soft and shining with excellent health.
Willow has been fully vetted, is up to date on her vaccinations and has been spayed. This supports Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs that won't contribute to the overpopulation challenges in the canine population.
Willow is arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 1/7/2026. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and loving best friend. An app can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-res. cue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.
**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Willow please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
An Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract must be completed before any dog can begin their one week foster. Our average adoption fee is $695. This amount serves to cover vetting, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, temperament testing, transport, a microchip, harness, food, and treats.
Our dogs come from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and rural Colorado.

Pets are transported from the southern states every week. Almost 100% of the time, the dogs are spoken for as a result of adoption applications that can be referenced under Adoption at farfelsrescue.com. We study the applications. If the app indicates there is a match, followed up by a home visit and reference checks, the process moves to the next step. The adopter is committing to a one week foster (of course the dog can be returned at any time prior), and can then choose to finalize the adoption.
