My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for a gentle soul dog that gets along with everyone? Athena is definitely that! She loves every human and dog she’s met. She is the ultimate lover girl of all and definitely a belly rub connoisseur.

When I first met Athena she acted as if she’s known me forever- she melted right into my arms and leaned in for more pets. She loves to show her affection by giving kisses in the most gentle way possible. She hugs and kisses like no other! We think Athena is a husky and Australian cattle dog mix though she is not a stereotypical cattle dog, she loves to relax and chill and definitely doesn’t want to be working a 9-5 like my cattle dog (no promises on breed). Even though she is 39lbs of pure fluff she is a perfect lap dog. You’d never even know she was there she’s as comfy as a marshmallow! She is approximately 2 years old but she is definitely out of her puppy stage- she knows how to balance her energy perfectly!

Check out Athena’s video to see her in full frame!

Athena has been in a loving foster hone with 4 Pomeranians so she is super familiar with small dogs. In a playgroup here did great with all sizes and personalities. Her new Bestie is honey – a super playful dog here at the rescue, Athena handled, honey gracefully she matched her playful energy, and they had a great time! When around our more pushy playful male she was super respectful at declining his playtime when she was ready and print around the yard. Around Maribella, who thinks she’s the boss lady, Athena did so amazing- she was able to coexist great with her although they did not play, as Maribella is not super playful. All around she is super friendly and gets along great with everyone including kids! Athena’s foster has a 6 year old nephew she has been around multiple times and has done super well and as usual way very gentle with him.

Athena’s currently living with 3 very chill cats in her foster home, when first meeting them she was super playful with them but not has learned that they aren’t huge fans of playtime and has respected them. She greeted out house cat similarly, she was super exited and hyper meeting him.
I believe Athena could do good in many home types. Including both apartment or house, she is super quiet, gentle and easy on leash and is able to settle super well. Apartment life would work great but a yard is always appreciated with a playful dog. She could enjoy being an only dog since she is so loving and cuddly to humans, but she also does enjoy some good playtime with other pups. I could see her being a wonderful family dog.

If Athena checks off all your boxes for a forever fur buddy please apply to adopt and give her a home!

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!

We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
