My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoption Fee: $475

When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped!

What we know: Transferred from Espanola Humane in Espanola, NM at approximately 2.5 months old, single puppy with no littermates, fixed. Came with the name "Wes".

From the foster: Enter Biggie Smalls (look at the size of those paws): a brindle-coated bundle of joyous energy in search of a loving forever home.

"Playful Puppy" just barely scratches the surface for this little guy. He leaps, he bounds, he pounces and prances with all the confidence in the world. There's not a shy or timid bone in his body. Just let out your best puppy call, and he'll come racing over full of infectious enthusiasm and endless kisses... and maybe a quick cuddle if you catch him during a period of calm.

He’s been following our older pup everywhere like, we'll, a puppy... learning the ropes of house & yard life. She’s shown him a few wrestling moves and the finer points of tug-of-war, and he’s soaking it all up intently.

Our first harness-and-leash experience started as a bit of an adventure. He wasn’t too sure at first, but once he discovered the wonders awaiting beyond our gate, he was all in. Indoors, he’s learning what’s fair game to play with. He's been happily swapping a slipper or sock (that shouldn't have been left out in the first place because... puppy) for a proper toy and some affection.

He needs some help learning to use the outdoor bathroom, but, like a lot of these pups who have spent most of their lives in a shelter, it seems to be just because he hasn't had that potty training yet, not because he can't or won't do it.

Having Biggie in our home has been a treat. We highly recommend you meet him in person, take a long look at those ginormous paws and beautiful coat and just *try* not to fall in love.

More about this rescue

Colorado Puppy Rescue is a 501(c)3 no-kill rescue for young puppies. We accept puppies from kill-shelters in southern CO, NM,TX, OK and KS. Most of our puppies are mixed mutts under 12 weeks old, some are as old as 6 months. We do not have a shelter. All of our puppies stay in foster homes so the only time they are available for adoption is at our adoption events. We average 20 puppies a week and update our website with available puppies Friday afternoons.
