My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Louie! This sweet boy is housetrained, excellent in a crate, and an overall well-mannered companion. He sleeps quietly through the night, waits patiently to be let out, and appreciates having a cozy blanket or bed to relax on.

Louie walks well on a leash, he gets a little excited at first and may pull, but settles quickly with gentle reminders. He loves seeing the leash come out and is always eager for outdoor adventures. He already knows “sit” and “down” and is currently working on “shake.” He listens well and comes when called.

Louie does great with kids and currently lives with an 11- and 13-year-old. He’s gentle, playful, loves to cuddle, and responds well to the kids when they call him. He’s friendly with neighborhood dogs; he may bark out of excitement at first, but he settles quickly and greets with interest and happy tail wags. Inside the home, he’ll bark occasionally at dogs passing by the window, but otherwise he’s very quiet.

This cuddly guy loves naps, belly rubs, brushing, and stuffed toys. He also enjoys bones, chews, and puzzle toys that challenge his smart, curious mind. Louie has a soft, plush coat that makes snuggle time extra cozy on chilly nights. He’s very attentive and often follows his people around to see what they’re up to. He still has a bit of that “puppy curiosity,” exploring his environment and learning what is, and isn’t, a dog toy.

Louie would thrive in a home with kids and plenty of time for activity and exercise. His future family will need to be cautious with open doors until they build trust and routine, as Louie is ready to bolt out of the door. If you do not have a fenced-in yard make sure he is leashed before you open the door for adventures.

He adjusted to his foster home faster than any other foster they’ve had. With consistent reminders and a little more training, Louie will continue to shine. He’s smart and eager to please.

Adopting from HEA

FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS:
Adoption is a huge deal to us. We make a lifetime guarantee to our companions. In return, we’re asking you to provide a lifetime commitment once you’ve invited a pet to join your family. We’re excited that you're considering adoption. We look forward to working with you to find the right match!

TIMELINE:
Our primary objective is to assure the correct match for the people and the pets that we’re sending to their forever homes. Our goal is to send dogs and cats home as quickly as we can, while still being thorough. Processing times will vary and are largely dependent on our ability to connect with your references, landlord, and veterinarian. To keep the process moving along, please make sure you’ve done your part:
1) Fill out your application completely - missing information slows down the process.
2) Let your references know to expect our call.
3) If you rent, let your landlord know to expect our call.
4) If you currently have pets, ask your veterinarian to be prepared to release your records.

LIFETIME GUARANTEE:
We make a pact with every animal that enters our care: They’re promised a loving home for the rest of their life. In turn, when you make the commitment to adopt, we ask you to make a lifetime commitment. We believe family is forever.
