My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A bit about Betty:
- unknown history with cats; slow, supervised intros recommended
- unknown history with kids; all interactions should be supervised
- unknown history with dogs; okay pending successful introduction
- Betty is blind and may be less tolerant of fast/unexpected movements in her space

Meet Betty! This sweet senior girl is the perfect pup for a low-key human craving a cuddly, low-energy pup to spoil! Betty came to us with severe matting (she had over half a kilogram of hair removed during her groom!) Now that she`s looking more spiffy, she ready to head out on an adventure....to the nearest cozy lap she can find! Betty is a complete lap dog who loves to cuddle on your lap and use your arm as a headrest (she may grumble at you if you don`t let her!) She may enjoy short sniff walks once the weather warms up, but now she just needs lots of cozy blankets and sweaters. Betty is blind and on a wet food diet only - her new family should understand that as a senior girl, she`ll require more frequent veterinary monitoring to keep her comfortable. But the love she`ll bring will be so worth it!

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
