My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kobe is looking for a hero, and he needs one quickly. This sweet brown Labrador boy has been with us since he was a tiny pup, and he’s grown into the gentlest, most loyal soul. He’s used to outdoor life and hanging around the barn, soaking up sunshine and keeping an eye on everything like it’s his job. He’s never lived inside a home before, but he’s the kind of dog who would bloom with a person willing to show him what that kind of love feels like. He would love to be indoors, though! He’s dog-friendly, kid-friendly, easygoing, and just one of those sweethearts who quietly wins you over. Kobe doesn’t ask for much. Just a safe place, a patient human, and a chance to finally have a home of his own.

More about this rescue

The Mylo Foundation was established in 2016 with the mission of giving shelter dogs a second chance. We believe there are no bad dogs, just bad people, and we work tirelessly to facilitate adoptions, foster care, volunteering, and donations to support these deserving animals. Mylo was rescued from the Santa Rosa Shelter. He was just a little puppy then but was still facing death. At that time the shelter used the gas chamber. I was only 12 and was volunteering.
I waited day after day with Mylo for someone, anyone to come help him. No one ever came. Then the day came for him to be killed. I just could not let that happen, so I took him home.
The agreement with my mom was, I had to take care of him. I thought that would be easy, but it wasn't. For the first couple of days, night after night he would cry. I was just a kid and I was exhausted but I knew I had to take care of him or he would die.
Mylo was with me for 16 years. We did everything together. He was truly my best friend. He died in 1999 of old age. At the time I really did not know how I could live without seeing him everyday. But slowly I let go and found more "Mylos" who just needed someone willing to sit with them through the first couple of nights and encourage them to let go and trust.
This is why I started The Mylo Foundation
