Meet Boots — The Little Holiday Snowflake

Hi, I’m Boots — a 3-month-old kitten who’s shy at first but full of gentle sweetness once I feel safe. Before I came to the shelter, I had either an injury or a bad infection in one of my eyes, and it left behind a little bit of permanent scarring. I still have some vision in that eye, and the doctor says I’m doing just fine — we’ll just keep an eye on it (pun totally intended).

I’m playful but calm, and I love springs, balls, and especially hiding and pouncing in my collapsible house. I can be held, though I don’t totally relax yet — I’m still learning that all this holiday love is meant for me. I haven’t let anyone hear my purr just yet, but I will meow softly to let you know I’m around.

With a patient, cozy home, I’ll blossom into the little winter companion I’m meant to be. If you’re looking for a tender, quiet kitten to grow into the season with, I’d love to be your holiday miracle. â¤ï¸

Their adoption process

1.
Meet the Pet

We have cats available at PetSmart Rockwall, Rowlett and Wylie (Texas) as well as in foster homes.

2.
Sign Adoption Contract

You can take home a pet the same day you meet them and decide to adopt.

3.
Pay Fee

Our adoption fees vary based on age, and range from $100-$150. We sometimes have grant funding available to lower fees.

Additional adoption info

All animals in the care of FRAs have their annual vaccinations, sterilization, FeLV/FIV test for cats, and a microchip. They have also received dewormer and flea preventative. While an adoption contract is required once you select a pet, there is no need to be pre-approved to adopt. You can meet and adopt a pet at the same time

More about this rescue

Friends of Rescue Animals (FRAs) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. FRAs was founded in 2004 by 4 volunteers who wanted to support the Rowlett Animal Shelter. Our organization has grown to over 300 volunteers, and with this growth, we now support four municipal shelters and operate our own cat rescue program.

Our mission is to provide resources, programs and education to promote adoption and care of homeless pets in our community. FRAs’ vision is a world where every companion animal has a safe and loving forever home. We are a 100% all volunteer run organization, and our ability to help homeless animals depends on donations from the community and grant funding.

Our organizational programs include operating the volunteer program for both shelters, providing funding for heartworm treatments and emergency medical care, accepting cats from the shelter and citizens into our foster-based cat rescue, supporting TNR/SNR efforts for community cats and most recently funding dog transport initiatives. Our volunteers spend thousands of hours socializing and marketing the animals for adoption, which increases the number of animals with a positive outcome. FRAs has helped countless pets avoid euthanasia, find their forever homes and live longer, healthier lives.
