My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We want to preface this post by saying PUPPIES AND KITTENS ARE NOT HOLIDAY GIFTS! They are life-long commitments! Small dogs can live 15+ years with appropriate care. Please do not apply unless you're willing to provide a forever home.

Miso (M - creamy white) and Meet Freya (F - black and white) - these two darlings are looking for (separate) loving homes. They are approximately 9 weeks old and currently weigh under 5 pounds. They are expected to stay small, we estimate 10-20 pounds. They are purebred Heinz 57 (likely some mix of Chihuahua/Shi-Tzu/Beagle/Dachshund based on the adult dogs in the home).

Freya is fierce! She is high-energy, independent, curious, and very smart. She is ready for your next adventure! But when it is time to settle down, she snuggles right in and is a sweet and loving little girl.

Miso is a snuggle bug. Smaller and more chill than his sister, he approaches the world more slowly and is a bit more timid than Freya. He is affectionate and sweet. But also full of puppy playfulness and energy.

Because they are so small and they are quite mouthy, we will not consider adopting them out to families with babies or elementary school-age children.

Because they are so young, someone must be home with them most of the day.

More about this rescue

The Hedgesville Hounds group was formed in 2003. We are a 501(c)(3) organization comprised of people who have several decades of combined experience.

Hedgesville Hounds exist everywhere. They are dogs of every breed - every size - every age - who by circumstance, ignorance, or cruelty and neglect, were put at risk. Sometimes they are cats, and even rabbits.

Our effort has been quite simple - to give these animals a voice. And a little help with arrangements. And then let these wonderful creatures do the rest.

We are an all foster care organizations. These animals are in homes being loved and nurtured until their adoptive family finds them to take them to their forever home. Only rarely, when special circumstances arise, do we board or kennel our animals. We want to set our adopters and our animals up for success and we feel foster care is the best way to achieve that.
