My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Squeeks:

This little tike came to the BC SPCA Kelowna from Dog Control. He is her now just waiting to find a home for the holidays and a permanent one at that. We know nothing of his background but were are happy to share what we have learned.

Squeeks is very quiet for the most part but will bark from time to time for a short duration to get attention. He does not like to be confined in his kennel, preferring to be in your lap. He is easy to leash and loves to walk. Because he has not been exposed to other dogs, we recommend supervisor introductions. If you already have a resident dog, we do require a Meet & Greet here at the Centre before making that final adoption decision.

We have put Squeeks into a temporary foster home, so if you believe Squeeks is the champion you've been searching for, search no longer. If you are considering adoption, we would have to co-ordinate a Meet & Greet date and time with both you and the foster. But don't let that be your hesitation. He's waiting for a home - yours?

Walk-ins are welcome, but be sure you can return after we've set up that Meet & Greet time.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
