Greta and her sister Gale come to us all the way from sunny Puerto Rico. Poor girls-- what a time to wind up in Chicago, but they are snuggling up together for warmth until they have a human of their own to sleep next to! These girls are known as Satos, which is the Puerto Rican term for the estimated 650,000 street dogs on the island. Rescues based down there take them off the streets and get them medically vetted and ready to fly to cities like Chicago, where rescues like ours take them in to be adopted.
Before landing at our shelter, Greta and Gale were in a foster home for two weeks with a family and their three dogs. The girls get along great with dogs, all people, and children. The foster reported that they did have some potty accidents, but much of that has to do with the weather, which they are not used to!
Greta is around 7 months old, but she is still a puppy that will need to adjust to a new home and routine so accidents should be expected. Greta did well crated during the day when needed and overnight as well.
Greta needs to put on some weight, but she is going to stay a small-medium sized dog -she is a perfect little size! Greta's foster mom said that of the two girls, Greta is the "softer" one: she is slightly more shy, she attaches to people very easily, and always wants to be next to her people. She is very loving and affectionate, and loves to give kisses!
We hope you will come and fall in love with our little island girl this weekend!
Greta's adoption fee is $375. This animal is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
