Take the Pet Home
This helps ADOPT KOREAN RESCUE SEATTLE with pet care costs.
Meet Kongtteok, a sweet 1-year-old spayed female Jindo mix with a warm brown coat
She weighs 18.5 kg and stands 50 cm at the shoulder.
Rescue Story
Kongtteok was born to parents who were neglected and tied in farmland. From birth until rescue, she lived on a very short tether with little freedom.
Thanks to kind volunteers, she was able to receive weekly walks and was spayed despite her circumstances. Recently, due to land redevelopment, the area was cleared and owners attempted to dispose of the tied dogs. Kongtteok was rescued just in time and brought into safety. She is now ready to begin a new life in a loving home.
People-Friendly
Kongtteok is friendly and affectionate with both familiar people and strangers. She approaches people willingly, leans in for pets, and enjoys gentle attention.
She has met children under 13 and showed no fear or reactivity. She can be picked up by placing an arm under her belly, though she is still a bit awkward being held due to limited experience. Once she builds trust, she happily shows her belly and relaxes.
Dog Socialization
Kongtteok is social with other dogs and enjoys greeting both familiar and new dogs. She tends to feel more comfortable with dogs her size or smaller and can be a bit timid around much larger dogs.
She is generally uneasy around very high-energy dogs and, if another dog provokes her, she prefers to retreat rather than escalate.
Cats & Other Animals
While tied outdoors, Kongtteok lived around cats and chickens and showed little reaction even when they came close. On walks, she may watch cats with curiosity but follows her handler calmly when guided.
Energy Level
She has a moderate energy level—she enjoys outdoor activities and walks, then settles down quietly afterward.
Leash & Environment
Kongtteok may pull on leash at times but generally follows her handler well. She walks comfortably in quiet areas but can feel nervous around busy roads or sudden stimuli, such as people running toward her, which may cause her to pause or lower her tail.
Additional Notes
• Rarely barks; occasional demand barking when excited (e.g., when treats are present)
• Calm in a kennel
• Nervous about getting into cars and prefers to be gently lifted inside
• No clear indoor/outdoor potty distinction yet due to being tied, but always eliminates during walks
• Previously showed mild food guarding toward other dogs while tied; no guarding observed when free and fed in open spaces
Ideal Home
Kongtteok would do best in a patient, loving home that understands the adjustment needed for dogs who have lived tied outdoors. A calm environment and gentle guidance will help her continue building confidence.
