My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hi to Lorelai!!

This sweet 1 year old girl came to us from an Amish puppy mill. She spent the first year of her life in a kennel with little to no human interaction. She has now completed our prison training program and is ready to find her happily ever after!

Lorelai will require a very patient family who understands she is still learning what love and a home is all about. She is very reserved in new environments, but is a lover once she warms up!

Her ideal home would be with adults only, or older kids, as young kids are too noisy and fast ;), have a fenced in backyard so she can safely explore, and someone committed to showing her life is GOOD and humans can be loving.

She does well with other dogs and cats, but does not require another dog in her forever home.

Lorelai is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm negative. She does have a grade 2 out of 6 heart murmur but it is not effecting her life at all. She has no exercise intolerance and underwent anesthesia for her spay without any complications. It will just need monitored with her family vet.

She is crate trained, house trained and knows her basic commands. If you are interested in adopting Lorelai please visit our website and complete an adoption application: https://www.prodogsohio.org/

Go meet their pets

We have monthly events at local pet stores in Columbus and Dayton, and can arrange private meet-and-greets with individual fosters, as needed. Please submit an application to adopt in order to be contacted by one of our adoption coordinators, if you would like to meet one of our dogs.

More about this rescue

Purebred Rescue Organization of Ohio has been rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming companion animals for over twenty years. What started as a small foster-based rescue in Dayton, focused on purebred puppy mill releases and owner surrenders, has grown into a multi-city effort, and now includes the PUPP Prison Dog Training Program and partnerships with shelters across the State of Ohio to help save hundreds of dogs each year. Contrary to our name, we rescue dogs of all breeds, mixes, shapes, and sizes! We provide standard vetting for them while they are in our care - all of our dogs are fixed, heartworm tested, vaccinated, and microchipped before they are placed in adoptive homes.
