Pecan was surrendered by a breeder because she had Microphthalmia in both eyes with Corneal edema in the right eye and Symblepharon in the left eye as well. We know, lots of big words. Microphthalmia is where the eyes are abnormally small. Corneal Edema is a blue, foggy swelling of the cornea from fluid buildup. Symblepharon is the adhesion of the conjunctiva (pink tissue). Pecan does has sight and does very well. She did end up having some issue with her left eye so we did have the eye and all the tissue removed.
REQUIREMENTS:
***Canine friend of similar size & temperament (under 20lbs) in the home are ok
***No stairs or places she can fall from
***No small/disrespectful children or anyone who is a fall risk
***Secure physical fenced yard or harness leash walk only
Pecan does not know her vision is impaired. She runs around just like any other puppy. She enjoys her toys and being with her humans. She will need a playpen for her own safety when she is not being supervised by humans. She is 100% house trained as long as she goes out on a regular basis. She does have a small bladder since she is a puppy.
We will not consider homes with small/disrespectful children, anyone using a walker/cane/wheelchair, or any dog bigger than 20 pounds in the home. These are all hazards for Pecan.
Bringing home a new puppy is a huge responsibility. It requires lots of patience & time! But it is very rewarding if everyone is invested. Please apply if you meet the requirements & would like to adopt a wonderful new friend. Please don’t apply without speaking to your spouse/partner first.
