Meet Ginger, a bright and bouncy 21 pound 6-month-old mixed-breed pup who’s ready to start her next chapter! This sweet and super-smart girl was surrendered when her energy levels proved too much for the cats and kiddos in the home. Her previous family did an amazing job socializing and caring for her -- she is affectionate, eager to please, and always excited for whatever comes next.
Ginger is playful, highly food-motivated, and already ahead of the curve. She’s been to puppy class and did wonderfully, showing off just how quick she is to learn. As with all adolescents, she’ll benefit from continued training as she grows, and she’ll make it fun with her enthusiasm and sharp mind.
She’s looking for an active home that appreciates the joy of an energetic young dog. Ginger will thrive with people who can keep both her body and brain busy through exercise, enrichment, and positive training. Ready to Adopt?
You have two options:
#1- VISIT IN PERSON
Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter.
(Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.)
#2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD**
If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours.
**Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events.

All adult dog adoption fees include;
-spay/neuter
-rabies and kennel cough vaccinations
- heartworm test
-current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian)
-microchip implanted & registered to adopter
-treatment of fleas & ticks
-veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin
-free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians
Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
