When the virus is active, it can weaken the immune system, leaving me at risk for different infections. The virus can also cause cancers in infected cats. As it can take many years for the virus to become active again, many cats infected with FIV can live long and healthy lives.

If an animal is not spayed/neutered prior to leaving the shelter, adopters are required to sign a contract agreeing to have the animal altered within a set time frame. Adoption fees, if any, include a certificate to assist with spay/neuter costs. All animals leaving the facility are microchipped and adopters receive a free vet visit as part of the adoption process. All our cats have tested free of feline disease and all adult spayed/neutered cats can be adopted for no fee.
