My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

BREAD was living in the northern community of Sandy Lake and came south along with her 4 “Loaves”, Pumpernickel, Multigrain, Wholewheat and Sourdough. She’s spayed, had her two sets of vaccines including a rabies shot, a microchip, Revolution flea and tick treatment and been deemed a healthy girl by the vet. She maybe petite in size but she more than makes up for it with her loving personality. When she came to her foster home she had to integrate with 5 other kitties and at first she was very protective of her babies so she was pretty stressed. After just a week or so though she started to fit right in with them all and is now best friends with them all. She’s super affectionate and loves to have cuddles and snuggle up to you. Her fur is long so will need brushing/combing regularly but that’s not a problem as she just loves to be pampered with a comb and also have ear scratches with it. She loves to sit by the fireplace and enjoys soaking up the heat from it.

BREAD has used the litter box since day one in foster care as she’s such a smart girl. She loves to eat both kibble and wet food, drink nice cold water plus she loves Temptations treats. Running up and down the cat tree seems to give her great enjoyment and she’ll also hang out in it for a nap, she’ll also use the scratch post that’s attached to it. She’s fostered with two puppies so she would suit a home with a dog as long as it’s cat savvy and a slow, monitored introduction is done. Children should be aged 6 plus and be gentle, loving and caring towards animals.

If you would like to meet BREAD then please submit an adoption application to do so.

Additional adoption info

Dogs: $750 (as of March 2024)
Cats: $250
The adoption process involves a brief application for the pet you are interested in. We will review your application and if you appear to be a good match for the pet, we will contact you for a phone interview. If that is successful we then do a vet reference check. If all goes well we will then set up a meet and greet for you and anyone else living in the home including any resident dogs with the pet. We then ask you to go home and contemplate your decision on adopting the pet and let us know your decision within 24hrs of meeting the pet. If applicable we will then move forward with the adoption at a mutually agreed upon time.

Go meet their pets

We only set up meet and greets with our animals once an adoption application has been submitted. We do occasionally have meet and greets with our animals at Global Pet Foods in the Barrie area.

You can check out the available pets on our rescuegroups website or on our rescue Facebook page.

More about this rescue

We’re a small rescue with a big mission to save animals in our Northern communities, local Pounds and owner surrenders (under certain circumstances.) We’re located in Barrie, Ontario and we serve the area of Simcoe County and within a two hour radius of the Barrie area.
Our intakes are placed in loving foster homes until they’re assessed, vetted including vaccines, microchip and a spay/neuter (if over 6 months of age) before they leave the rescue to be adopted. Female puppies are spayed at 6 months of age and males 8 months of age.)
We’re always looking for additional foster homes as we can only do intakes if we have foster homes for them to go into.
