My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Booray!

Booray is a sweet 12-year-old senior boy who is a treat-motivated dog and who listens well and responds nicely to leash guidance. He quickly picked up basic commands like Heel and Sit, even with distractions nearby, showing impressive concentration and willingness to learn. Booray thrives with positive reinforcement and is eager to please, making him a great candidate for full obedience training to build his confidence and help with general anxiety.

Booray has some hearing and vision impairments, so he relies heavily on his sense of smell. He can be startled if approached unexpectedly, especially when resting, so announcing your presence with his name and a clap is recommended. Because of this, Booray would do best in a home without children.

He’s learning crate training and has shown little anxiety so far. Booray is also working on being comfortable with having his collar touched, and responds well to gentle, reward-based desensitization.

While Booray may be a bit nervous with strangers at first, he warms up quickly—especially if treats are involved! He’s friendly and gentle when taking treats, though he can get a bit snappy if another dog is too close during treat time. Booray’s foster notes that he’s scared of storms, so a thunder coat or medication like Trazodone may help him feel more secure during bad weather.

Potty training is ongoing, and Booray benefits from a consistent routine and monitored breaks. He can be an only dog as long as he receives plenty of attention, and doesn’t require anxiety medication except possibly for storms.

Booray is looking for a loving, patient home where he can continue to grow in confidence and enjoy plenty of treats, training, and affection!

He's located in NE DFW if you are interested in fostering or adopting this boy.

More about this rescue

WEIMARANER RESCUE of North Texas, Inc. is an all-volunteer 501-C-3, non-profit, charitable organization.

Since 1989, our small group of volunteers has saved over 1,600 Weimaraners from suffering and death. We exist solely on donations and fund raising efforts. Every penny of our proceeds pay for veterinary care, food, boarding and essential expenses. WRNT began as the Rescue Committee of the Lone Star Weimaraner Club, Inc. (formerly North Texas Weimaraner Club). In 1997 WRNT incorporated and was granted 501-C-3 status by the I.R.S., enabling tax deductible donations to our rescue fund.

OUR MISSION is the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of Weimaraners from animal shelters, found stray, abandoned, neglected and abused. We educate the public on responsible pet ownership, and promote spay/neuter. We are dedicated to end the tragedy of pet over-population by opposing puppy mills, pet stores selling live animals, and irresponsible over-breeding of companion animals.
