My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Nova!

Nova is a 2.5-year-old, 52lb Labrador/Shepherd/Husky mix with a heart as big as her smile. She’s sweet, goofy, and incredibly loving—everything you hope for in a best friend.

When her people come home, Nova celebrates with joyful pogo jumps, and she’s working hard on her manners, including resisting the temptation to “shop” from the counter. She can get a little jealous when another dog gets the attention she knows she deserves, but she’s learning and improving every day.

This smart girl was fully house-trained on day one in her foster home and uses a doggy door like a pro. She loves romping and playing with other dogs and then curling up in her favorite cozy spot for a well-earned nap.

Nova is a total cuddle bug—belly rubs, ear scratches, paw massages… she’s here for all of it. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate companion who brings joy wherever she goes, Nova just might be the perfect match.

Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
