My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Shiraz (aka Roz!) Mom of the Wine Litter.

Gender: Female

Age: 2 years

Current Weight: 35 lbs

Expected Adult Size: Medium (25-50 lbs)

Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Heeler

Energy Level: Medium low

Dog Friendly:  Yes. Roz can live with other dogs or be an only dog. She has done very well with dogs of all different ages, sizes and both genders in her foster home.

Cat Friendly: Yes

Kid Friendly: Roz hasn't been officially kid tested, but we do not anticipate her having issues with kids. We think she should be a really great family dog.

Apartment Friendly: No

Physical Fence Requirement: Physical fence preferred, but not mandatory with regular exercise and frequent walks.

Crate Trained: Roz has not been crated due to nursing her puppies, but she is not destructive at all. There have been no issues leaving her uncrated.

Potty Trained: Yes

Ideal Home/Adopter: Are you looking for a loyal companion who loves to be by your side? Roz was brought into RescuedOhio’s care after her previous owner’s drove her to a shelter in the middle of the night and tied her to a gate, leaving her in the cold rain while she was very pregnant. Despite this heartbreak, Roz is nothing but an absolute sweetheart. We can’t imagine how confused or scared she must have been, yet she continues to love people wholeheartedly. Since coming to RescuedOhio, Roz has loved every person she’s met. She truly doesn’t know a stranger! She melts for praise and affection, loves to snuggle up beside you or rest her head on your lap, and is incredibly gentle and easy going.

Likes: Roz loves being near her people and included in whatever is going on. She really just wants to feel included and be loved! Roz’s favorite things are snuggling and yummy treats. Roz walks well on the leash and also enjoys going for a stroll.

Dislikes: We honestly haven’t really discovered anything Roz doesn’t like. She is very easy going!

Roz will make the greatest companion. She is full of love and has so much to offer. She’s a true gem and we can’t wait for her to find her forever home, one where she will never be abandoned again.

Shiraz’s adoption fee is $350. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in Shiraz, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved.

More about this rescue

RESCUEDohio was founded on August 1, 2015 by a group of dedicated animal lovers in the central Ohio area. The founders came from various different vocational backgrounds, but all have one thing in common: the passion to save dogs. Before starting RESCUEDohio, they were previously involved in different aspects of rescue, including fostering, fundraising, coordinating and training. The mission of this group is to help find homes for unwanted and abandoned dogs and to advocate for the rights of all animals everywhere.
