Meet Darwin! Darwin is a 2-year-old, 50 pound boy, with a gentle heart and a thoughtful approach to the world. He is sensitive when meeting new people and will need slow, patient introductions to help him feel safe and comfortable. Once he has time to build trust, his sweet and affectionate nature truly shines.
Darwin would do best in a home with another friendly dog already in residence. Having a canine companion helps him feel more confident and secure as he continues to navigate the world. He’s looking for understanding adopters who know that letting a relationship grow at Darwin’s pace is key.
Because of his sensitivity, Darwin needs a cat-free home. He is likely able to live with older, respectful children who can give him space and allow him to warm up on his own terms.

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

Senior to Senior Program: For adopters age 60 or older, adoption fees are reduced to $15 if the animal is 3 years or older. This service is made possible through the Pets for the Elderly Foundation. You will be asked to provide proof of age.
Veteran Pet Program: Veterans and active military personnel receive 25% off of adoption fees. Valid military ID is required.

We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
