Nova is a playful young cat who can entertain herself with toys and play for hours.
She often likes to entertain herself during pre-midnight and dawn hours and while she is shy at first, she definitely is interested in the activity of her human. She is highly food motivated and often races to the kitchen when her human enters to see if there is food for her involved.
When playing, she often grabs soft toys, smacking them onto the floor or tossing them in the air. Her voice includes soft meows and a gurgling sounding meow sometimes as she wanders around.
Nova came from an overcrowding situation and was moved into a vet clinic where she sadly remained for almost 3 months before being taken into foster. As could be expected, she didn't enjoy being in a cage and found it difficult to trust people when she first came into foster. Once out of quarantine and allowed to wander in the house, she quickly came out of her shell, playing with toys and approaching respectfully to the two resident cats. She defers to both and has started playing tag with the younger resident cat.
She will need to be allowed to build trust with her new humans on her own time. She is interested in human attention, and with each passing day seems more at ease and braver. She is used to having cats around and seems at ease with other cats in the home and enjoys their company.
A special note from Nova's foster family: Nova is still a bit wary of sudden movements towards her, but will accept pets if approached slowly, or better yet, with treats! She has excellent litter box habits! She keeps herself clean. She likes sleeping in the rooms of the cat condo or on a chair under the dining room table. She likely had free range in her source home so she counter and table surfs. This aligns with her strong food motivation - even if there is kibble in the bowl on the floor, she's checking out if there may be something else more interesting around.

Additional adoption info
Adoption fee is $225 per adult cat, and $300 for kittens (under 8 months old).
This ensures that the cats that come into our care receive the attention they need, are spayed or neutered, and receive a rabies vaccination at the appropriate age. For City of Toronto residents, the adoption fee includes a mandatory City of Toronto cat license that is valid for one year. As you can imagine, these fees only begin to cover our costs; donations and ongoing fundraising efforts carry us the rest of the way!
Note:
-Senior cats (8 years or older) have an adoption fee of the adopter's choice, vs. our standard adult adoption fee of $225.
-Our adoption fee for an adult bonded pair (8 months or older) is $175 per cat vs. $225 per cat. Thanks for giving two loving friends a home together!
