My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oh my heck- this puppy is absolute perfection! He is truly the kind of puppy who walks into a room and instantly brings a spark of happiness and makes everyone feel brighter. His name is Chester Cheeto but we all just call him Cheeto. He is fun-loving, affectionate, so full of love, and he absolutely adores giving kisses. At just six months old, he’s already showing all the makings of a dream dog!
Take a look at how perfectly cheesy is here then come back to read more- https://youtu.be/pBHgrxn3lek

Cheeto lives in an adoring foster home complete with three cats, large and small dogs, a 13 year old he adores, and in every sense he has proved to be an amazing family dog. Cheeto has met a variety of dogs outside of the home and at a recent playgroup I got to see the type of dogs he gravitates to and feels comfortable with. When greeting new dogs he is polite but can shy away from larger, more intimidating dogs. He remains polite but does not show his playful side as quickly as he does with the calmer, gentler pups who give him a moment to warm up. He is young and still figuring out all the different types of doggy play and can come off a little awkward, in the cutest way possible, and he’s getting more playful every day. With the cats in the home, who free-roam alongside the dogs, he is polite and sometimes even tries to gently sit on them in true silly-puppy fashion. He also has a soft spot for his foster’s 14-year-old son, to put it simply- they are cuddle-buds.

Cheeto is estimated to be 6 months old, weighs 31 lbs currently, and is likely a pit bull mix (DNA results pending thanks to his foster.) We cannot guarantee breed or birthday given he is a rescue but those DNA results will absolutely be shared with his adopter. His foster shared that he is both house and crate trained and right now she would say he is about 95% potty trained- that 5% is only because he hasn’t quite learned how to “ask” at the door yet. For a pup his age he is well on the way to 100%.

Another area that he will need support as he grows into an adult dog, is with his leash skills. He has the basics down and walks nicely but can sometimes stop and decide he’s done- such a classic puppy moment. He’s sensitive so a gentle, encouraging approach works best for him.

While Cheeto he gets along with all the dogs in his foster home, he connects most with the low to medium-energy pups who don’t push him or create conflict. A sweet, respectful female dog would be a lovely match, though he would also love being someone’s one-and-only.
Cheeto is an absolute lover-boy and is deeply people-oriented. If he could he would happily follow his foster any and everywhere. He could easily be a house with a yard boy, hello sun-bathing babe, but he is also a great energy level for apartment life. Walks and outings will be perfect with him by your side. He loves outings, meeting new people, and going wherever his humans go. He’s the perfect tag-along buddy in the making.

He’s still growing, still learning, and still figuring out the world-but his heart is already pure gold.Adopt a devoted, cuddly, playful incredibly loving puppy- that’s Cheeto! Your very own cheesy lover boy!

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!

We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
